Fiddlesticks are octagonal sticks used in lieu of a pencil for practicing bow holds. Pencils are round or hexagonal, but the frog portion of a real bow is an octagon. Fiddlesticks are made in 3 sizes that are the actual diameter of violin/viola, cello, or bass bows.
Fiddlesticks will not teach you how to hold a bow, but they can be a placeholder for practicing bowings or as a demonstration tool for teachers. Hand crafted from figured maple.

The PELED BOWPEN is a tool that builds flexibility and precision for strengthening or warming-up the bow hand. The BOWPEN will attach to most surfaces, but is not removable. Use with a Tadpole to practice anywhere, or attach to an old practice bow.

"Tadpoles are a clever and useful tactile aid to correct bow hold set-up for all string instruments."

“Tadpoles made teaching the bow hold more tangible for my students. The various textures and indentions helped them understand EXACTLY where to place their fingers on the bow. Most importantly, using Tadpoles sped up the teaching process and made transferring their bow hold from the Tadpole to a bow EASIER.”
-David Pope

"I have a 6th grade Autistic student with a severe deficit in fine motor skills. He struggled to hold the bow correctly in addition to left hand finger placement. The tadpole with it's tactile representations and specific points of contact to reference was a game changer for this student. Recently he was able to play the entire D Major scale with a decent bow hold. It was a great moment for him and for me as a teacher."

"I have loved using Tadpoles with my beginning (and even not so beginning) orchestra students. It helps them feel their way around the frog of the bow in new, innovative tactile ways. Since using them I have seen a huge improvement in our right hand bow development!"
